Bouleversement important pour ce dernier concert à Chicago en forme d’apothéhose !
1ere ouverture de concert faite avec Vertigo, All because of you placé tout de suite après, retour de Gloria et With or without You, apparition de Until the end of the world, et un Bad inédit qui se termine sur 40.
Pas de révolution ni de Boss dans les parages, mais un sérieux renouvellement qui marquera sans nulle doute une étape déterminante du Leg 1.

United Center
Le United Center est la plus grande salle des Etats-Unis. Les Chicago Blackhawks (NHL) et les Chicago Bulls (NBA) y résident. Ces derniers connurent leur heure de gloire avec Michael Jordan au début et au milieu des années 1990. Une statue célèbre l'époque de ce joueur inégalé à l'entrée de la salle. Les plus grands artistes sont déjà passés dans cette salle (Rolling Stones, Mc Cartney, Springsteen, U2). Depuis son ouverture en 1994, 20 millions de personnes sont déjà venues au United Center.

Historique
Chicago est une ville très spéciale pour U2 qui y joue traditionnellement plus de concerts qu'ailleurs. On en dénombre une vingtaine depuis 1987. En 2001, l'Elevation Tour a fait étape à 6 reprises au United Center (4 fois en mai lors du leg 1, et 2 fois en octobre lors du leg 3). En 1997 pour le Popmart Tour, U2 donna trois concerts d'affilée au Soldier Field, le plus grand stade de la région. Les Joshua Tree et Zoo TV Tour eurent également droit à chacun 4 concerts chicagolais.

quelqu’un peut m’expliquer pourquoii il faut camper à fnac(c’etait le cas à barcelone), etre abonné à u2.com, ou bien etre ingenieur multimedia por pouvoir voir u2 en concert?
une pensée pour monsieur minitel qui m’a offert mon premier concert (Paris 12-12-89) et qui s’est montré trés respectueux avec moi.

Pourquoi désespérer pour ultraviolet? ne pas oublier que ça a été répété à Mexico, lors de la préparation du groupe…..

Du tres grand U2 !!! ça y est , le premeir coup de tonnerre est arrivé ….un final sur Bad de 10 min enorme !!!! et l’arrivée de Until the end of the world….
manque plus que Exit..mais je pense que ça n’arrivera plus..et pourquoi pas Ultra violet !!!
bref c’etatit du tres lourd en ce 12 MAi au United Center ..nous ne pouvons que nous incliner, quel bonheur
Pas mal…mais rien à côté de ce que nous réserve Nice!
J’ai pas une exigence énorme et impossible à combler… Je demande juste un semblant d’effort pour casser le train-train que U2 était en train d’installer… Et là, c’est enfin le cas… En plus NYD a dégagé, pour la 1ère fois de la tournée, c’est un bon début vers de meilleures horizons… A saluer donc.
Finalement le bert ne râle que pour obtenir Until et All because of you au début du show….Beaucoup de bruit pour rien, en fait ;-)

Ca fait plaisir une telle setlist… comme quoi qd ils veulent ils peuvent…
cette année je me réserve un peu au niveau bootleges… je n écoute rien mais je serais curieux de savoir si la voix de bono tourne bien sur with or without you!!
en tout cas superbe setlist qui ne laisse que présager du meilleur pour l europe!!

U2’s fourth Chicago show was easily the best of their four-night stand, surpassing even the "Bono’s Birthday" show on May 10 (which happens to be my birthday, too) which was filmed for posterity (i.e., the DVD to be released later this year). I attended all four Chicago shows, and I’d expected U2 to make extensive changes to the set list for the fourth show, given that they previous three shows were fairly similar (due to the demands and expectations for the DVD, I would think). My suspicions were confirmed from the outset: U2 opened with "Vertigo," then followed it with "All Because of You" (normally an encore number) and "Elevation." "Gloria" was reinstated to the set, as was "The Ocean". The middle portion of the show was largely the same, though the inclusion of "Original of the Species" for the second night in a row was a welcome treat. U2 departed from the usual encores, starting with "Until the End of the World" (its first performance on the VERTIGO tour, if I’m not mistaken), then continuing with "The Fly" and "Mysterious Ways" before the absolutely stunning conclusion with "Yahweh" sandwiched between "With or Without You" (another VERTIGO tour first, I believe) and a "Bad" medley featuring snippets of "Norweigan Wood (This Bird Has Flown)" and "Sexual Healing", and winding down with the "how long to sing this song" chorus from "40." This was the first time I’d ever seen U2 end a show with "Bad", and it was amazing! The local newspaper critics were fairly negative in their reviews of the first Chicago show on May 7, but had they waited to review the fourth show rather than the first, they would have changed their tune. I’ve seen U2 about 45 times (I’m not sure of the exact number), and this was one of the best performances I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. I’m admittedly biased and, granted, I haven’t seen U2 perform in any other cities on the VERTIGO tour; however, I have listened to almost all of the tour recordings that have been made available on U2 Neophobia and in my opinion, this show was the best of the VERTIGO tour to this point. I can’t wait for U2 to return to Chicago in September! [Note: I brought a digital recorder to the concert and will try to upload or otherwise provide .mp3s of this concert to U2 Neophobia for posting on this site; however, I am going out of town for a few days, so they may not be ready until May 17-18.]
