Entre deux ballades en bateau et un programme d’été chargé :), nous pouvons constater sur les périgrinations Irlandaises de U2, seulement trois substitutions et un ajout avec « Party Girl »
A noter que le concert a été entièrement filmé. De nombreuses caméras étaient présentes autour de la scène et une louma (caméra sur grue) avait été ajoutée par rapport aux concerts précédents.
Ce tournage laisse présager une future diffusion promotionelle ou, qui sait, un DVD Live Europe

Croke Park
Situé à environ 5 minutes d’O’Connell Street (au centre ville de Dublin), Croke Park est le plus grand stade d’Irlande. C’est le lieu privilégié d’un sport typiquement irlandais et méconnu dans le reste du monde : le football gaélique, sorte de mélange entre football et rugby. Ce stade a accueilli en 2003 les cérémonies d’ouverture et de clôture des Jeux Olympiques Spéciaux d'été. De nombreuses personnalités ont participé à ces cérémonies dont U2, The Corrs, Colin Farrell, Pierce Brosnan et Nelson Mandela.

Historique
Les derniers concerts de U2 à Croke Park remontent aux 27 et 28 juin 1987 dans le cadre du Joshua Tree Tour. Deux ans plus tôt, le groupe s’y était déjà arrêté pour l’Unforgettable Fire Tour (29 juin 1985).
Pour le Popmart Tour, U2 avait joué au Landsdowne Road, l’autre grand stade de Dublin (30 et 31 août 1997). Le reste du temps, le groupe préféra les grandes plaines de Slane Castle pour l’Elevation Tour (25 août et 1er septembre 2001) et du Royal Dublin Society pour Zooropa (27 et 28 août 1993).

And to think of all of those people who thought we were mad to be queuing
overnight to buy tickets for a rock show or even more insane to queue for
the same length of time again in the pouring rain on Clonliffe Road. Here
are just a few of the shots I took from Croke Park last Night. It was the
most amazing night of my life and if I wrote anymore – I would not be doing
U2, Croke Park of indeed the 81,999 other fans there any justice at all. 6
foot away from three members of the greatest rock group in the world. Larry
stayed behind his drum kit. Ohh well. Thank you U2.
Next Stop – Madison Square Garden NYC.

Digne d’un "Home-Concert", mais encore une fois toujours sans "A Sort Of Homecoming". Peut-être pour le troisième show, lundi ?
